Design Problem-Solving for Information Technology Practice
Question: Discuss about theDesign Problem-Solving for Information Technology Practice. Answer: Relevant problem-solving methodologies Information Technology Practice and Engineering focus on design and problem-solving. Here, the artifacts must be conceived, established, utilized, modified, maintained as well as retired. During these process, engineers are faced with complex problems which might seem easy to a layperson, but very complex. Such problems show 3 shared features: Firstly, the problem alone is never often identified easily. Usually, view of the customer about the problem is, very imprecise at best, and extremely deceptive at worst. Secondly, problem is always open-ended. No single correct solution. Rather, an assembly of options must be accounted for in an attempt to get the best or even a most appropriate solution. Usually, the best solution shall hinge on objectives or viewpoints of the client (Jones and Jones 2015). Thirdly, at least, there is, in the first phases of the process of design, a considerable absent of info. Engineers have to collect info as required and have to identify, amongst all information that might be gathered, how much and what is essential. Initially, these complex design aspects were ignored in engineering education. Preferably, the focus was on comprehensive examination alongside the difficult, insufficiently defined, aspect of design including identification of problem, conception as well as substitute solution generation. However, there has been an acknowledgment in the recent past that conceptual, innovative, as well as creative design aspects, have shared characteristics irrespective of the particular problem that needs a solution. Consequently, it has been realized that it is feasible for strategies alongside methodologies to be taught for tackling problems. Importantly, many colleges have since ushered project and coursework on methodology of design into curriculum. The system approach and analysis: This resulted from the fact that engineering innovation has become complex and hence the need for system approaches. The complex projects have since become very huge to be addressed by one individual hence teams for design created with a lead-engineer taking a managers role. Project is divided into specific parts which are then allocated to each primary team member. In the massive project as seen in the system hierarchy above, every person manages another engineers group who work on the sub-project. Thus, the systems idea hierarchy and subsystem emerge with accompanying formal mechanism need for handling different teams interactions (Von Hippel and Von Krogh 2015). Previous problem-solving approaches are now employed in every subsystem and system. For example, considering the total cost of a pipeline optimization together with the pump developed for raising water from low-lying reservoir to a raised one, two extremes must be considered. To decrease the flow resistance in a pipe, it might be feasible to utilize a big diameter pipe with small resistance internally; it might be likely to make do with the comparatively small pump. The cost of the pipe would be huge but that of the pump small. Thus, to decrease cost, it will be feasible to utilize a small-sized diameter pipe. Nevertheless, the resistant to flow will subsequently be substantial and even a bigger pump will be required to propel water via the smaller pipeline. Albeit cost of the pipe is low, that of the pump here will be larger. A problem is thus determining an optimum pipe and pump sizes that provide least TC (Sun and Parsons 2017). The above graph illustrates the method used here as the cost is plotted against the pipe and pump size. As the diameter of the pipe surges, the pipeline cost increases as shown by line A. But as the diameter of the pipe surges the flow resistance drops making it feasible to utilize smaller, cheaper pump (Hwang, Hung and Chen 2014). This implies that pumps cots or line B drops as diameter of pipe surges. TC or line C is got through the summation of line B and line C. This illustrates a high TC as 2 peripheries with optimal solution at the TC curves turning point (TP). The TP location recognizes best sizes for pipe and pump. Design: To solve the problem above, we will have the pipes, pumps and the cost required to buy them. This will then help us set the system of optimization of pump/pipeline system. This system as has been shown above will help us arrive at the optimum sizes of both pump and pipe and at the optimum cost yet the resistance to flow will have been extremely reduced (Clark and Mayer 2016). Synthesis alternative/innovative solutions, concepts and procedures The alternatives to this system can be understood by first recognizing that only two variables were used including pipe and pump size. This led to one line with a minimum TP. However, if incase of three variables, the sole line will shift to a 3-D surface, and optimum solution will be provided by a lower point on such a surface. Decision making In applying the decision-making methodologies, this solution appears to be more simple but very efficient, effective and sustainable. This is because the resistance to flow is reduced and the small pump is required to push the flow in the pipeline. The cost is at a minimum, and this means that it can be sustained in the long run even if the pipe and pump are to be replaced (Brown and Chandrasekaran 2014). Implement and test solutions This system can be implemented on a farm where water is to be a pump for irrigation. The test solution is done when the farmer can meet his objective of irrigating his farm with the little cash he has rather than spending a significant amount of complex pipeline and pumping. Case Analysis-Zenith Essay Example
Case Analysis-Zenith Essay Case Analysis Zenith In the case, the situation is that Zenith Electronics Corporation considers marketing research to forecast demand for a new technology, High Definition Television (HDTV). Zenithââ¬â¢s previous marketing research methods and the alternative forecasting plans are described in the case. Zenith is a company that has been played successfully in TV industry and has done marketing research previously for its various products. Its previous marketing research is based on the historical data such as previous technology trends. However, there is no historical data for HDTV since it is a new technology. So, Zenith first think about other information such as Color TVââ¬â¢s penetration rate to know if HDTV adoption would be similar to any other productââ¬â¢s adoption. And the company looked at how marketing plays a role in forecasting demand for HDTV. Zenith formed a marketing team to better do research on consumerââ¬â¢s acceptance and demand for HDTV. The marketing team first decided to do the Aspect Ratio Study to see if customers really want the HDTVââ¬â¢s wider screen which is 16:9 even though it costs premium of $300 and broadcasters would still produce 4:3 aspect ratios. This study is to find the customersââ¬â¢ preference as price changes, program content changes, and diagonal size changes. For this study, marketing team recruited participants who have bought TV in past year from the shopping mall in a single city. Survey was conducted as a paired-comparison conjoint methodology. Participants are exposed to the situation to choose one over the other one in two options. And they are also asked to display their various measures of preference like overall preference. The way this study is conducted is well related to the main objectives. In this study, researchers will look at how customers would react toward different price level for this wider screen TV. So, from this point, Zenith can find out if it can make profit and if customers are willing to pay premium for HDTV. Also Zenith considered different circumstances such as customers might still get 4:3 signals in their 16:9 aspect ratios which results side-curtained display. By making the study situations like the one can happen in real world, researchers can get more accurate and reasonable data from the study. As looking at this research technique in the other side, there are some possible shortcomings or errors in the Aspect Ratio Study. The place where participants would be recruited is limited. They would be selected from a shopping mall only in a single city. Because the place is limited to a single city, there is possibility the data would be not accurate and would not work for other cities. As another potential error in this study is that the result data would not be a very detailed or useful to forecast actual demand for HDTV. Because this is just a repeated comparison of two options and making choices, customers might not have enough time to be sure they actually want one option. Overall result may indicate how customers make trade-offs and customer preference. However, in real world, there isnââ¬â¢t always the situation of choosing one thing over another one. There are countless options of values to choose for customers. Besides this Aspect Ratio Study, five other alternative plans to consider are described in the end of the case. First one to consider is Dealer Research. This technique would be helpful to understand dealerââ¬â¢s concerns and to build up a good relationship with dealers. But my critique is that customers might be skeptical towards dealers even though this research would help controlling the sales channel to influence customers in retail stores. Zenith also considers Secondary Source Research as another option. This research is attractive in a fact that it could be done immediately. However, because HDTV is a very new technology, it would not be accurate to forecast the growth of HDTV industry by using historical data on all other electronics. For rest of research plansââ¬â¢ biggest shortcoming is the time. HDTV innovators and qualitative research on early adoption could be placed in next year. Also for this research, it only aims for innovators and early adopters. So there is possibility that data would not reach customers after them. And HDTV/NTSC-TV preference test can also be done in next year. This study actually needs to have a working model of HDTV. So it might be more effective. However, developing the program for the study might cost a lot. As a last alternative, HDTV consumer awareness/â⬠halo effectâ⬠survey is the most time-consuming study. This can be done only after HDTV is introduced in the market. So, there is a risk of failure or a possibility of negative impact on company when they actually launched HDTV production. If the introduction isnââ¬â¢t effective enough, it would be very high-cost to do this survey.

Current Event Related To Health Policy
Current Event Related To Health Policy Introduction Many current health events have given emphasis on the importance of having a global Millennium Development Health plan. This involves Health Policies that are intended to be a vehicle for the exploration and discussion of health issues.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Current Event Related To Health Policy specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The main aim of global Millennium Development Health plan is to enhance communication between health policy researchers, legislators, decision-makers and professionals concerned with developing, implementing, and analyzing health issues (Weaver, 2011, May 3). The plan is a guide for the overall health improvement internationally and not just for specific countries. Main Body The global Millennium Development Health plan is guided by the international Health Policy Framework. This policy framework is based on the analysis of international health situation to provide guid ance on the policy objectives that the sector needs in order to achieve goals of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing of mankind (Ricciardelli, 2009). The global Millennium Development Health plan has its strategic theme as ââ¬ËInvesting in healthââ¬â¢. Its overall stated goal is ââ¬ËTo promote and Improve the health of all people internationally through the deliberate restructuring of the health sectors in different countries and make all health services more effective, accessible and affordableââ¬â¢ (Ricciardelli, 2009). This information can always be found in the current health events related to international Health Policy. In some African countries, strategic imperatives have been identified as the key policy objectives in their health sector. They will also work towards the achievement of the global Millennium Development Health plan. These imperatives are: To ensure equitable allocation of resources for involved countries in order to reduce disparities i n health status. To Increase the cost effectiveness and the cost efficiency of their resource allocation and use. The countries involved will be required to control their population growth. The above policy objectives will form the basis for prioritization of strategic objectives in the subsequent strategic plans which will specifically focus on defining strategies for;Advertising Looking for essay on health medicine? Shifting of resources from curative to preventive. However, it is expected that the overall implementation may not manage to make a breakthrough in terms of transforming the critical health sector interventions and operations towards meeting the most significant targets and indicators of health as expected by the plan (Ricciardelli, 2009). Nevertheless the glob al Millennium Development Health plan has its goals to contribute to the reduction of health inequalities and to reverse the downward trend in health related impact and outcome indicators. Its strategic objectives in this case will be; To increase equitable access to health services. To improve quality and the responsiveness of services in Health. To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery for international Health. The global Millennium Development Goals are signed up to guide prioritization of countries as they move towards improvement and development in their health sectors. Scaling up universal access to cost effective interventions that tackle key causes of ill health and death are also being polished (Villegas, 2010, May 13). Interventions addressing the burden of disease due to malaria, TB, HIV, immunization amongst others have been scaled up significantly particularly in the past 10 years but still they need to be improved. Conclusion For the global Mil lennium Development Health plan to work out well, a strong guide line is needed for the process towards its generation. This process involves both qualitative and quantitative methods to generate and apply information. Qualitative methods involve group interview techniques that generate perceptions of clients, service providers and managers on key aspects that will be analyzed. The Quantitative methods on the other hand will involve desk reviews of key reports and data available for different aspects being analyzed. References Ricciardelli, M. British Cuisine
Some people criticize English nutrient. They say it s impossible, deadening, tasteless, it s french friess with everything and wholly overcooked veggies. The basic ingredients, when fresh, are so full of spirit that British have nt had to contrive sauces to mask their natural gustatory sensation. What can compare with fresh urines or new murphies merely boiled and served with butter? Why drown spring lamb in vino or pick and spices, when with merely one or two herbs it is perfectly delightful? If you ask aliens to call some typically English dishes, they will likely state Fish and french friess so halt. It is dissatisfactory, but true that, there is no tradition in England of eating in eating houses, because the nutrient does nt impart itself to such readying. English cookery is found at place. Cost Accounting Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
Cost Accounting - Case Study Example The charging of the contracts by the company employees is supposed to account for the two types of contracts; fixed-price and cost type contracts. In this case, the contract charging by Jumbo Corporation employees, and the subsequent decision and activities undertaken by Frank and Harold pinpoint to fraudulent activities. This is because the contracts are charged inappropriately by having fixed-price contracts charged to cost type contracts. Even though the companyââ¬â¢s accounting system released unidentified contracts in terms of their relative types, the corporation has a foreman in place to direct contract charging for both GO-1 and GO-2. The responsible parties are not executing their relevant duties, and thus the outcome of the contract charging can be termed to be fraud (Vona 157). Frank is guilty based on the unfolding events regarding contract charging in Jumbo Corporation. He is supposed to direct employees on which GO to charge their time. The role played by Frank shows that the corporationââ¬â¢s accounting system was not to blame for the failure to identify GO as to contract type. This failure was supposed to be corrected by Frank by being there to provide directions to the shop employees during contract charging. Instead of doing this, Frank feels that the system is working out for him. In other words, the current contract charging saves him trouble with the management. This is because the company reviews meet what Frank is supposed to achieve on a monthly basis. Although he is aware of the mistake being committed, he stays silent to have the process work out for him even further. This makes him engage in fraud in the sense that he conceals it. Harold is as well guilty of fraud. He noticed the pattern that the charging activities were taking and was pleased by that instead of taking relevant actions to correct the situation. The VP noted that the shop employees charged some fixed-price contracts to cost type contracts.
